A great way to repair a salvage bike is to get another "parts" bike. These can often be found at scrap yards, auctions, or possibly the same place you got your original wrecked bike. Most damaged bikes have many good working parts, and depending upon the accident may still have cosmetic parts, alleviating you from doing the body work. Or vise versa with mechanical components.

First thing to do is analyze the bike you are fixing and make out a list of the parts you need.

Find your parts bike and spot check for obvious good parts. The easiest are fenders, tanks, frame etc. Make sure to bring onsite electronics equipment such as an engine code reader to determine what damage needs to be fixed on mechanical parts.

Let me be clear by stating there are very few specific auctions for exclusively salvage motorcycles. Your best bet is to find a salvage auto auction, or just a liquidation auction for general vehicles and motorcycles.

So, for an offline auction your best bet is to find local auctions, locate their website, or talk to the auctioneer to find out if they ever liquidate salvage motorcycles. Local auctions can be found through web search, local classifieds, and newspapers.

Now when a salvage car or truck gets flood damaged, you may well want to stay clear of this vehicle because you will 95% of the time have electronics troubles in the future.  However, with ease of access, and the easy ability to replace all of a motorcycles electronics and wiring, a flood damaged motorcycle can be a good choice when look for a damaged bike to repair.

The reasons you would want a flood damaged motorbike is to get it on the cheap, to get it for parts, and for similar reasons.

The things to watch for is to make sure you don't overpay, and like I said, be prepared to replace the electronics, if not now,  in the future.  The other thing to find out if you can is if the flood damage is fresh or salt water flood.  If it is a salt water damaged vehicle, it is most likely not worth buying period(unless you can get it for free or next to free).  Even a few minutes exposure can cause metal rust, and any longer than that will erode all the electrical system, rust or corrode the metal, and in a few years time make the vehicle dangerous to ride.

So in conclusion, if getting a flood bike, price out electronics as this is the most likely thing you will need to replace, and avoid salt water flooded bikes.
